Four main religious buildings – orthodox basilica, synagogue, catholic cathedral and mosque - stand in proximity to one another in the center of the city of Sofia. These buildings represent not just the historical and cultural heritage, but especially the spiritual values of Bulgarian people, values formed by the legacy of ethnic diversity and religious tolerance. What is the current state of religious pluralism in Bulgaria, and what challenges does this spirit of diversity, dialogue, and tolerance face?
